Our Origin Story
Founded in 2020 by Michael Cole, driven by a vision to innovate and challenge traditional boundaries, Nomadyn's inception marked the beginning of a journey sparked by our founder's aspiration to reimagine, redesign, and revolutionize motorized adventure. This journey was fuelled further by assembling an exceptional and talented team, united in their commitment to excellence.
Michael’s journey into the automotive industry was deeply influenced by his upbringing, with his father being a mechanic and his brothers deeply involved in motorsports. His experience with heavy equipment, along with a brief stint at the Ford Extreme Cold Weather Test Facility further shaped his path. These experiences deepened his grasp of mechanics and technology,
Our journey started on the shores of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada, where the region’s arctic-like conditions provided the perfect proving grounds.
Notably, the region hosted the prestigious Mercedes-AMG Winter Experience for several years, showcasing its significance in automotive culture. The event featured more than 10 kilometres of track on a 400-acre patch of frozen lake, with ice up to 150 centimetres thick. Enthusiasts from around the world gathered there to test their driving skills in extreme winter conditions.
The region also gained global recognition as the site of the Gimli Glider incident, where Air Canada Flight 143 made a successful crash landing at Gimli Motorsports Park—a former Royal Canadian Air Force base converted to a racetrack. Remarkably, despite vehicles being on the race track at the time, there were no serious injuries to passengers or people on the ground, and only minor damage to the aircraft. This event further solidified the region's reputation as a significant location in both aviation history and automotive culture.
The name "Nomadyn" is a blend of "Nomad" and "Dynamics," reflecting our core values of exploration and innovation. "Nomad" signifies our spirit of adventure, a relentless drive to explore new horizons. "Dynamics" emphasizes our focus on movement and progress, highlighting our commitment to creating cutting-edge, high-performance products.
